What Air Duct Cleaning Involves
A full duct cleaning uses negative air pressure equipment connected to the duct system while agitation tools loosen dust and debris built up along the interior walls of the ducts, pulling it into a containment unit rather than pushing it further into the home. We work through the full supply and return system, including the main trunk lines, individual branch runs and the registers themselves.
Return air ducts tend to accumulate the most debris, since they are pulling household dust, pet hair and, in some homes, insulation fibers or rodent activity back toward the HVAC equipment. We pay particular attention to the return side and to the area immediately around the blower and coil, since debris here has the most direct effect on airflow and equipment strain.
After cleaning, we inspect for any disconnected or damaged duct sections found along the way and flag them, since a duct that has come apart at a joint is both a source of contamination and a source of energy loss. Sealing these connections is often recommended as a follow up to cleaning rather than something we would do without discussing it with you first.
